Pozn.:  Ken Miyamoto was born in 1926 in Kumamoto, Kyushu, and graduated from the Faculty of Law at Kyushu University. After coming to Tokyo, he established a drama association called The Barley Society. Miyamoto produced a number of commercial plays, including „When We Sing a Song“ in 1956, which was actually his first play, and „The Reactive Operation“ in 1958. In 1962 Miyamoto received the Kishida Drama Prize for his plays „The People’s Republic of Japan“ (1960) and Mechanism Strategy (1962). He published „The Pilot in The New Japanese Literature“ journal in 1964, and this work, together with the two works that were awarded the Kishida Drama Award and „The Reactive Operation,“ comprised his „Tetralogy of Japan’s Postwar History.“ Based on his unique historical perspective, Miyamoto wrote „The Casket of Meiji“ in 1962, „Legend of the Beauty“ in 1968, „The Side Story of Ah Q“ in 1969 and „The Martyrdom of St.Gregory“ in 1972 and named these four works his „Tetralogy of Revolutionary Legends.“

He was an enthusiastic planner of an event called Wesker ’68, when British playwright Arnold Wesker was invited to a Tokyo symposium in 1968. In addition to his plays, Miyamoto has written numerous reviews and radio and TV drama scripts, and has also adapted several commercial plays. Miyamoto died in 1988.
