In the midst of a week full of very good radio drama, the jury fell in love with a small and brilliant jewel of a play. As we listened, we were forcibly reminded that radio at its very best is an intimate medium and this piece demonstrated so clearly the ability to reach out and hold the listener in the palm of its hand from beginning to end. It contains no high drama and no tragedy but with wit and elegance presents us with a beautifully pitched picture. The jury greatly admired the unity of the dramaturgy and the gentle development of the script. With outstanding editing and wonderful recordings, the writer-director takes us to a meditation class in New York city where he finds himself sitting next to an older man with a red bandana. Against the background of a brilliantly constructed New york vibe, he wryly explores the difficulty of focusing on one’s breath when it transpires that the man with the red bandana is the famous American actor, Harvey Keitel.

Falling Tree Productions je přední světová rozhlasová produkční společnost, založená v roce 1998 Allanem Hallem, která vyrábí především fíčry a dokumenty pro Rádio BBC ve Velké Británii, Austrálii a mnoha dalších zemích. Téměř celá tvorba této společnosti funguje na platformě podcastů.

„Samotný zakladatel Allan Hall měl již před vznikem této produkční společnosti bohaté zkušenosti s rozhlasovou tvorbou, nyní se ale dočkáváme zcela pokrokových podcastů, které nás lehce vtáhnou do děje,“ dodává závěrem Kovářová.

Všechny podcasty budou ke slyšení v prostorách univerzitního rádia UP AIR v Uměleckém centru Univerzity Palackého.

In the middle of one of the busiest cities in the world, the city of lights and dreams and distractions, a man sits down and tries to meditate. Learning to meditate is hard. Emptying one’s mind, focusing entirely on one’s breath is hard. And it gets even harder for the man with the realisation that he’s sitting next to the famous actor Harvey Keitel.

Radio 3′s showcase for adventurous feature-making was launched in October 1993 with a ‚piece for radio’, by the composer Ian Gardiner. ‚Monument’, which was conceived as a kind of London symphony, received the prestigious Prix Italia the following year.
