O emisiji Dokumentarna radio drama

Entered for the Priz Europa in 2016.

At the begin of the Croatian War for Independence in 1991, Marijan Gubina was a ten year old boy living with his parents and three sisters in the small village of Novi Dalj. The outbreak of war meant the beginning of captivity that would last 260 days for him and his family. It was marked by multiple cases of torture, violence, rapes and all types of torment.

Many years later, Marijan wrote a novel about it called ‘260 Days’, which was also adapted for the theatre. Today he is a humanitarian and activist who talks to people about forgiveness and tolerance. (summarised from the Prix Europa Festival catalogue) (….)

Today, after it has been six years since the beginning of the project, and two years after the first performance of the play, when it is behind us long ago celebrated the fiftieth performance of the HIT play 260 DAYS produced by the Croatian National Theatre in Osijek, director Drazen Ferencina, everybody reasonably joyfully cheers, especially for the excellent development of the entire project. We still remember last year’s prizes: 25th Days of Marul in Split brought a Prize for the dramatization of the text to Ana Prolic, and to all participants of the project, as are all rewarded at the same festival with Audience Award for the best play; shortly after that followed and 22nd Actor’s Festival where performance 260 Days brought to Osijek Theatre Award for best performance in its entirety and, ultimately, for the end of 2015, followed by two additional awards that Croatian National Theatre in Osijek entered the history of the award-winning performance with a total of five awards for one play in one year. Legendary Awards for the Osijek were: the Croatian Theatre Award for best dramatization and Award for best play. Taking into account the above awards, a number of positive reviews without any negative and how the author Marijan Gubina likes to point out, the prize of prizes – which refers to the interest of the audience and other theaters, we can reasonably point out Croatian National theatrein Osijek as a refreshment in the Croatian theaters.

Special thanks must be pointed out to the author of the project 260 DAYS Mr. Gubina, who insisted on the development of the project, which consists of the novel translated into 15 languages, and who is regarded as the most widely read novel in the last four years in Croatia (for foreign countries still do not have information). Marijan Gubina persisted in the idea to make a theater play based on the novel and, fortunately for all of us, head of Croatian National Theatre in Osijek Mr. Bozidar Snajder recognized the idea and created a play for which all viewers today tearfully remain breathless.

Croatian Radio Television’s (HRT) interes and monitoring has confirmed the interest of the citizens, which was no surprise after getting to know the works and character of Marijan Gubina. After the recorded documentary radio drama on Croatian radio, after more than 20 years, HRT decided to record and broadcast Marijan’s theater play performed by excellent ensemble of the Croatian National Theatre in Osijek.

According to a prominent, it is necessary to highlight the Croatian Audiovisual Centre, which recognized and encouraged the development of a film project and the development of scenario for the same. Today, with the excellent play that makes one think, the author of the project provokes us, i.e. leaves room for imagination of what would the film of high production look like, in which is interested a number of production companies, and Marijan announced it in 2017.
