Lit.: anonym: BBC Radio Young Writers: 25 Years On – The Colours Of The King’s Rose. In web BBC, b.d. (2013) (článek). – Cit.: Over the past quarter century, the Scottish playwright Anthony Neilson has established a reputation for unflinching drama examining themes of sex and violence. His very first radio play, which was broadcast as part of the first BBC Radio Young Writers Festival 25 years ago, was no exception.

In The Colours Of The King’s Rose, through the telephone static on the Confidantes‘ helpline comes the anxious voice of a young woman. Nothing unusual in that, perhaps, but for Chris it is the shock of his life.

This programme is part of a season which celebrates 25 years since radio’s first Young Playwright’s Festival. It was an opportunity for young writers to send their scripts to BBC Radio Drama and write for radio for the first time. Drama producer Jeremy Mortimer has specially chosen 10 plays from the three festivals which will be broadcast throughout the week on Radio 4 Extra.

First broadcast on BBC Radio 4 in 1988
